Since the Olympics in 1992 sparked a rejuvenation of Barcelona’s beaches, their number has grown from one to 7.  They are situated along a 5km stretch of the city’s coastline, from North to South.  Crewed by lifeguards from June to September, they cater for a rising number of visitors and can be accessed in only twenty minutes from the town centre.  

More than 3.5million tourists now visit the beaches every year.  The city’s council is repeatedly improving services, creating a cleaner and safer place.  Part of this mission has included the creation of the Barcelona Beach Center.  Here you can take a role in a number of free exhibitions and activities or simply relax with the day’s newspapers.  

In each Barcelona beach section, from Sant Sebastia to Llevant, you’ll find beach bars called  ‘chiringuitos ‘.  Serving a good range of drinks and food, they are always highly regarded.  The chiringuitos can be costlier nevertheless , given their beachfront position.  

Some of these bars are known to throw beach parties, regularly going on late into the evening.  DJs are commonly employed to play music and attract masses of revellers who come to dance on the sand.  With no one to annoy and the sea close by for a midnight dip, Barcelona’s beach parties have become legendary.

The sea is also very safe, with no major currents, making it popular with swimmers.  All of Barcelona’s beaches have the EU Blue Star rating making it superb for bathers.  There is also a good provision of disabled access.  One word of advice however : keep an eye out for the waves.  On gusty days the surf can get a bit rough, so weaker swimmers are suggested to remain close to the shore.  

This fact has made Barcelona’s beaches very fashionable with surfers.  You can see surfers taking their boards to the beaches all through the year.  One reason for that is the cleanliness of all of the city’s beaches.  A clean beach campaign was started in 2006 to raise pollution awareness among bathers and the water quality has improved no end.  

Dependent on what sort of beach experience you’re looking for might affect where you decide to stay.  As usual, renting a loft is the cheapest way to stay in Barcelona.  The beaches at the southern end of the town – Sant Sebastian and Barceloneta – are nearest to its centre and are livelier.  For scholars and young travellers, these are the places to choose an apartment.  

For those searching for somewhere a bit quieter, the beaches to the North will suit better.  These include Nova Mar Bella and Llevant.  They are much less busy and are used more often by families and residents looking for tranquility.  For easy accessibility to these you will need to find a house around Poblenou or Selva de Mar.  

With some truly fantastic beaches, Barcelona ranks alongside Spain’s most popular destinations for a summer holiday.  With seven beaches on offer, there are those to cater for every class of person.  Whether or not you are away with family or on a break with mates, there are masses of apartments to meet your needs.  You may also combine the very best of both worlds with a town retreat joined with a beach break.  Hence before heading for one of the islands, or Spain’s famous  ‘Sunshine Coast ‘, you should always consider Barcelona.

There are a lot of joys when traveling with a disability. For one there are a lot of people that are still nice out there and are very much willing to help you out if you need it. There are also a lot of companies that will offer you discounts if you have a disability. So think of it this way, you get it cheaper than other people might.

It is also fun because a nearly every airline or bus station will offer different things for people with disabilities to make them more accessible to you. They may offer bathrooms that are disability accessible. Whether you are in a wheelchair or not they might even offer a companion that can travel with you.

You can find a lot of airlines that will help you on the plane if you need help and they also sometimes offer special discounts for people with a disability no matter what it is. Even if you are in a wheelchair or can walk.

It is great to travel because of all the places you can go and all the things you can see. With all the places making it so easy for you to travel there is no reason that you should not be able to go where you want as long as you can afford it.

No matter where you travel to, there is almost always a place that is very handicapped accessible. More and more places every day are making it easier to be traveling with a disability. I think this is wonderful because after all you do not want to sit in the house and not go anywhere for the rest of your life. Remember, you only live once.

I personally am not handicapped, but if I was I would want places to make it easy for me to get around and use their facilities. Even being a person without disabilities I think that it is easier to use a bathroom that is handicap accessible because it is larger for wheelchairs and they make the other bathrooms smaller.

You should always remember that even though you are handicapped does not mean that you have to sit in your home all the time and go no where. There are so many places to choose from and they can not discriminate against you for being disabled whether you are in a wheel chair or not, if a company does discriminate against you for being disabled (whether they are disability accessible or not) then you can sue them. There is no reason for a company to discriminate against someone who travels with a disability. Remember you are just as good as the next person.

Cardiff is the capital city of Wales and has been called one of Europe’s top 10 cities. It’s a massively popular place for tourists to visit. It also houses Wales’ national art collection as well as lots of artifacts and features relating to natural history, archaeology and geology. It all takes place in a gorgeous building in the heart of Cardiff’s civic centre and there are a few different gallery trails you can use as a guide around the museum. If you’re the sort of person who loves music, festivals and getting things for free, then you’re sure to love Cardiff’s Big Weekend. This is a 3 day free music festival that happens every year, normally during the first weekend of August. As well as great live music and entertainment on stage at the civic centre, it also includes performances from the UK’s largest traveling funfair. This brings thousands of people to the already bustling city and is more than worth a visit.

Continuing its trend of great summer entertainment, Cardiff also caters to the food lovers out there with its Food and Drink Festival. This does exactly what the name suggests and it takes place in Cardiff Bay. It includes stalls full of favorite Welsh produce as well as food and drink from around the world, giving people a great chance to explore new flavors. There are also events taking place such as wine seminars, a Welsh cookery school and workshops for children, making Cardiff a feast for all the senses.
